RBI Deputy Governor Viral Acharya Resigned

The Reserve Bank of India’s (RBI) Deputy Governor Viral Acharya resigned six months before the scheduled end of his term. He returned to New York University Stern School of Business (NYU Stern) as CV Starr Professor of Economics.

Key Highlights:-

1. He submitted a letter to RBI he is unable to continue his term as a Deputy Governor of the RBI beyond July 23, 2019.
2. He joined RBI on January 23, 2017.
3. He leaves the central bank on December 10, 2018
4. He is in charge of the Financial Stability Unit, Monetary Policy Department, Department of Economic and Policy Research, Financial Markets Operation Department.
